An object on top of a glacier will always end up inside the glacier eventually because whether the glacier is growing or receding there will always be new snowfall so you can't judge based on what been covered by that new snowfall.

Mary, I think you completely missed Buck's point. He was critical of Dan Brown's writing not books in general and I'd have to agree, Brown is not exactly a master of prose.

It's very hard to imagine a non-water based life form and it seems to me very unlikely to exist. Water is relatively common in our galaxy so it is likely to exist anywhere it can in liquid form.
